About
Hi! My name's Lodis, and I'm a passionate computer programmer, game developer, and instructor. I have experience creating games in Unreal using both blueprints and C++ code, a certification in Unity, and years of teaching experience as well.
First Frost is a third person perspective adventure game. The player takes control of winter spirit who's job is to bring winter back to a restless forest. My major contribution to this project was the bear enemy AI. I designed and implemented its state machine, used Unreal's navigation and AI perception tools to allow it to track the player, and implemented the bears animations. This was all done using both blueprinting and c++ code.
Grid Game is a prototype for a personal project I developed by myself. Players battle on a 4 by 10 grid in an attempt to either destroy either their opponent, or the object behind their opponent. A notable addition I gave to this is an AI that uses a decision tree to strategize. It finds weak points, targets support systems, and attacks opponenings while trying to prevent its own defense from weakening. The game is also made using some helper tools I wrote using Unity's editor scripting including a custom event system and input manager.
As a solo developer, I programmed all of the game systems, designed the mechanics, created animations, wrote custom shaders, and worked with contractors to add more detail to the game environment. In order to test some game mechanics, I programmed an AI that uses machine learning concepts to learn how to play the game. I also created tools using Unity editor scripting to increase efficiency in animation, character creation, and UI development.
